Hello,

I'chiliad new here, but this looks like the place to be for puddle communication. My Pentair Sta Rite MPRA6G-155L 2hp pool pump quit working concluding night. Today, I had a local puddle guy come over and he told me the impeller broke. The motor was working, but it wasn't spinning the impeller. For $130 he fixed it. I wish I had researched it a picayune more than earlier shelling out the cash; it looks like the chore is well within the scope of my skills. Plus, my wife is seven months meaning, so I am about to be real broke! Anyway, an hr after the puddle guy left, the impeller isn't spinning again. I took all of the precautions and took a wait inside the pump. Sure enough the impeller is broken once more. It seems to be spinning complimentary of the shaft, similar the role that holds it onto the shaft is broken. However, I tin can't encounter any broken parts (I didn't take the defuser off). Can anyone offer any advice on this? I really don't desire to take a huge hit on fixing up a xx-year-old pump. I'd rather just purchase a slightly used or new one if this i has run its class. I only can't figure out why information technology would break again so fast. Zip can be getting to the impeller because of the small-scale skimmer that'due south inside of the pump, correct? Whatsoever help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Dan

I would call the guy and let him know the repair lasted simply an hour. Here is the manual for your pump. It has a diagram of all the parts of the pump. At that place may be a part missing or the shaft may exist damaged where the impeller attaches. If the pool guy can't find the problem have some pictures of the impeller and shaft and nosotros'll see if we tin can help you track downward the problem. To buy just the ii hp motor would exist effectually $300.

You could probably use a lower hp pump or a 2 speed pump. Delight edit your signature to include information about the puddle such as pool blazon (above ground or in ground), surface (vinyl, plaster, or fiberglass), size in gallons, pump make and horsepower, filter blazon (sand, DE, or cartridge), filter brand and size, and any water features, cleaning systems, and if at that place is a spa (attached or discrete). Information technology will show upward at the bottom of everything you post and information technology is easier for us to help you if we don't have to search the thread for this data.

Thanks, zea3. The pool guy is coming back tomorrow morning. I'll meet what he has to say. Hopefully he volition stand backside his repair and brand information technology right. This guy also quoted me $700 for a new pump; this doesn't seem right. I was reading this article, which reiterates what you said higher up about smaller or multi-speed pump.

I added some info to my signature. Thanks for the tip and the swift response!

Well, unless yous have Niagara Falls attached to your pool I think yous could go by with a smaller pump! A 1 hp 2 speed pump would probably piece of work but fine. I don't know how much your pool guy charges for labor, merely if that aforementioned model pump is no longer available or has had blueprint changes there may demand to be some re-plumbing work involved to modify out the pump. That would drive the cost up. If yous are handy re-plumbing for a new pump mostly is not too difficult. Information technology all depends on the current plumbing set up and how much room there is to work with.

Tin y'all recommend a model that I can compare size specs to see if re-plumbing would be necessary? I assume a modify similar that would bear on my utility bill; that'south ever skilful! Cheers once again.

Any of the Pentair or Hayward 2 speed pumps would exist good. Could you post a motion picture of your equipment pad?
